A clandestine exchange center for calls abroad uncovered in Tirana

TIRANA - This National Assembly of the Democratic Party, being held for the first time since its creation, can be called the Assembly of the Second Phase.
Just like the first phase, in which PDSH dealt with internal problems, conflict issues and its program, the second phase, which is expected to begin immediately after the assembly, concerns governance, the governing of the country, and the relations between the government and the party.
In fact, the central issue of this assembly is the candidacies for the PDSH Presidency, and it is expected that several new rules for the functioning of the party bodies will be established at this Assembly, which will also affect the way the party functions with the government.
But this does not mean there will be major changes in the government. At least this is what the PDSH chairman, Sali Berisha, stated during an interview for our newspaper in Tirana. “I am not in favor of changes in the government, not major changes. Of course, the government needs to be improved, but this is done by preserving stability,” he said.
In this context, Berisha announced that he had withdrawn his candidacy for the party Presidency and that he does not want to become a minister, despite the rumors circulating lately.
Another hot issue remains the clandestine telephone exchange discovered in Tirana, through which calls abroad were made.

Stealing telephones, a new business in Albania
Telekomi denounces: “200 million lek have not been paid”
Albanians do not pay for telephone calls, or at least they do not pay 200 million lek, which, according to specialists from the telephone company, should have been collected from consumers. According to them, this is a case of telephone theft by still unidentified people who have managed to find special codes in the telephone network, through which they make a large number of calls for which no payment is recorded. Telephony specialists compare the figure of 200 million lek lost to the value of the damage caused by the two fires that broke out at the city’s automatic urban exchange at the end of October 1993.
TIRANA - Clandestine calls are becoming a profitable activity, at least also because of the improper functioning of Tirana’s automatic urban exchange and the pulse-measuring equipment. If telephony specialists state that the total loss of revenue, due to unpaid calls, reaches 200 million lek per year, at least 1,300 telephony customers have paid no lek at all, although high usage has been recorded on their phones. Most of these numbers belong to private subscribers, but also to state institutions.

Rinas, magic telephone in the bar
10 lines in the world given away for free
TIRANA - Clandestine telephone communications at Rinas airport have so far caused no less than 60,000 dollars in losses. Telephone officials state that a clandestine exchange has been discovered at the airport, through which free communication with several countries around the world has been made possible.
Specialists in the field state that no fewer than 10 telephone lines to the world have been discovered, and they were paid for by the Albanian company. From the initial data, it is believed that these lines were used for a long period of time and served private business in the bar premises.
