Night smugglers
“Smuggling trade with Montenegro”
CARLO CELINO
SHKODËR — In the flooded and rather remote Lower Shkodër region, poor and very pitiful, an unusual activity is flourishing. Narrow roads, hidden villages and difficult passages are used to take goods toward Montenegro, in violation of the embargo. From the shores of the lake to the land roads, movement takes place at night and in silence.
According to residents and several testimonies collected on the ground, smuggling has reached such proportions that it has become part of everyday economic life. The goods include fuel, food, cigarettes and other products, which pass through a well-organized network. Some profits are large, while the risk remains equally high.
The report describes small boats, loaded vehicles and people moving along unpaved roads to avoid checks. Under the cover of darkness, the activity intensifies and local connections become crucial.
The international embargo and the poverty of the area have created favorable ground for this hidden traffic, while the authorities seem powerless to stop it completely.

RROMË LAÇI
TIRANË — A permanent center is being established in Albania to deal with major natural and traumatic disasters, in order to lessen the consequences. The center will be located near Rinas airport, under the supervision of the Council of Ministers, and will have an operational base with all the equipment needed for immediate intervention. The wait for a progressive need has now ended, with the signing of the relevant protocol between Albania and Italy. Our country has recently gained support of great humanitarian and qualitative importance. “One more day of safety for the injured”
A central station will be set up near Rinas airport and will have an operational room for medical emergencies, a fleet of rescue vehicles, and a helicopter that will make it possible to transport patients quickly. Following the example of the more advanced European countries, this mechanism will be coordinated with the civil protection and police structures.
According to official sources, the center will serve serious trauma cases and civil emergencies. The project is closely linked to an Albanian-Italian agreement and is expected to be implemented with technical support from the Italian side.
The service will provide rapid transport, on-site medical assistance, and specialized interventions. In the future, it will be connected to the national emergency network and will include specially trained personnel.
At the signing of the protocol, the usefulness and modern character of this initiative were emphasized, as it aims to improve citizens’ safety and reduce the consequences of accidents and natural disasters.
In the accident that occurred two weeks ago near Rinas airport, 26 people lost their lives. The new emergency medical station will greatly avoid the consequences of these tragedies.

More than 3 million lek allocated by the municipality
ARMAND MËRO
Honestly, a polluted city is an ugly face for anyone. The Tirana municipality has decided to intervene with several new waste collection points, aiming to improve sanitary and hygiene conditions and to make neighborhood cleaning easier.
According to announcements, the allocated fund amounts to more than 3 million lek and will be used to install containers and improve the necessary infrastructure. The sites were chosen in problematic areas of the city, where waste accumulation often creates difficulties for residents.
The municipality also aims to raise public awareness about the proper use of collection points and respect for waste disposal times. This measure is considered a first step in a broader urban cleaning plan.

Durrës - Istanbul motorway...
TIRANË — It seems as if he escaped to deepen it, came to see it himself with his own useless eyes? Or did he want to challenge calm itself? Or to contemplate the motorway road, from the swaying window of a bus, in order to have it in the memory and in his last poetry...
Jouan il Gusset[?] (ATSH poet) opened yesterday the photo exhibition “Durrës - Istanbul motorway”, installed in the lobby of the National Historical Museum.
The photographs show a long dusty road, bus stations, travelers’ faces and the weary stops of a transit landscape.
