Specialists explain
TIRANA — “Where was he infected with AIDS or as a seropositive person?” — is the question everyone asks themselves. To put it as simply as possible, it is difficult to state, even by the patient himself, where he may have been infected. In the laboratory this is absolutely impossible. Prof. Dr. Pali Misha, head of the infectious diseases ward at QSUT, answers our question briefly. “He was a sailor and also went ashore. He sailed the seas. He had his own experiences.”
TIRANA — Our specialists affirm that the first AIDS patient may have been infected abroad, while his relatives say that he led an honest family life. According to doctors, the patient had been under observation for several years as seropositive and only later did the disease appear. They add that treatment in the early stages could have prolonged his life, but poor conditions and lack of opportunities worsened his state.
According to Prof. Dr. Pali Misha and other specialists, tracing the source of infection is very difficult, especially when the patient worked as a sailor and traveled often outside Albania. On the other hand, family members insist that he did not frequent foreign women and that he was a disciplined man in everyday life. The case has caused great concern in public opinion, but doctors call for prejudice to be avoided and for prevention rules to be followed carefully.

Specialists explain
TIRANA — AIDS — acquired immune deficiency syndrome, is a syndrome caused by the HIV virus, while seropositivity indicates the presence of this virus in the body without the full disease having appeared. Specialists explain that a person may remain seropositive for years without necessarily progressing to the final stage of the disease.
SYMPTOMS — a seropositive person may or may not have visible signs. A person with AIDS, on the other hand, shows a marked decline in immunity, general weakness, recurring infections, and weight loss.
TREATMENT — a seropositive person needs continuous monitoring, counseling, and protection from infections; a person with AIDS requires more specialized treatment and more intensive support.
SPREAD — both conditions are linked to the same virus, and preventive measures are essential to limit its spread.

“Greenery reflectors are necessary for lighting”
MIRANDA VELI
At midday yesterday, residents were once again upset and asking why the gas lamps in squares and public areas were being relit. A month earlier the authorities had ordered them shut down because of savings and safety concerns, but the practice appears to have returned.
According to some employees, the reflectors are needed to illuminate green areas and for safety reasons. Others say this is being done without a plan and creates unnecessary expenses at a time of economic hardship. Residents are asking for explanations and clear measures.

the Democratic Party
TIRANA — Ed[l?]. D[?]o e Veron[?] — [text partly illegible] Two deputies of the Democratic Party have decided to leave the parliamentary group, justifying their move with deep political disagreements and with the way the party is being led. The head of the parliamentary group, Spahia, said that their departure was unexpected, but not unexplained, and that internal debates had long been visible.
According to him, the issue is linked to positions on reforms, responsibilities in government, and relations with the opposition. He emphasized that the Democratic Party remains open to discussion, but that discipline within the parliamentary group is necessary. Meanwhile, other sources said the move by the two deputies could affect the political climate in the coming days.
