It is a marathon trial that will be presided over by Judge Skënder Hatkaja and in which there will be several prosecutors, including Kristaq Tufa, Androkli Kostallari, Aleksandër Çipa and Agron Pepa. The defendants will be Koco Theodhosi, Pilo Peristeri, Qirjako Mihali, Vangjel Çerrava, Todi Naço, Jorgo Kulla, Haxhi Leka, Dhori Basha, Haxhi Balla and Shyqyri Këllezi. If the prosecutors succeed in proving their guilt, the former high-ranking officials, accused by the General Prosecutor’s Office of misusing state funds, face very severe sentences, even execution by firing squad. This is the staggering figure of the corruption scandal in which, according to the prosecution, former members of the communist government of the time were involved. Some of them, as of 2 p.m. yesterday, were transferred to Prison 313. It is believed that the first hearing of this trial will begin with the reading of the indictment, while the defense lawyers will request that the case be dismissed. Kosovo cannot be divided

Selami: "Kosovo cannot be divided" TIRANA — (CP) — Yesterday, the secret and inarticulate remarks made by Ibrahim Rugova at his meeting with the President of Albania and in his conversation with foreign journalists in Tirana stood out. Although Mr. Rugova ruled out the possibility of dividing Kosovo, he nevertheless expressed an uncritical assessment of Sali Berisha, or of the Serbian circles that are trying to present him as the leader of the Albanians. "Kosovo is for independence" — he repeatedly stated firmly. "It cannot be divided," he said. More specifically, Mr. Rugova declared that Kosovo’s autonomy has failed and that Albanians want its independence. He further added that even Kosovo Serbs would not be satisfied with a possible division. According to him, its division would bring destabilization to the entire region. Finally, he emphasized that Kosovo’s independence is the fairest solution.
