Nikos Morina — Jorgjica’s father — was immediately detained; he was initially suspected of knowing about the crime committed by his daughter and the man she lived with, the other Greek citizen, Sotiris Apostolis. But a then-reported — still unconfirmed — notice that Apostolis, after taking part in the Tirana crime, had taken his own life at a station in southern Greece, and the identification of Jorgjica and Ferenik Morina abroad, temporarily weakened the chances for the Albanian investigators to detain the real perpetrators.
