OPEC funds it DURRËS — Soon Durrës will have a new hospital. The agreement between a foundation of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries, OPEC, and the Albanian government was ratified by the latter during its regular meeting on Monday. The agreement provides for the use of a fund worth several million dollars to build this important facility for the city. The new hospital in Durrës will be of the general type. It will have a capacity of 170 beds.

TIRANA — UNESCO’s interest in the ancient city of Butrint is growing. After its declaration as a "world heritage" site, the well-known international organization has now decided to take further steps. A letter has been sent to the Ministry of Culture in Tirana. Through it, the Albanian authorities are asked to identify the most urgent areas for the preparation of a conservation plan.
