"Little means against smuggling"
PARLIAMENT / Deputy Prime Minister Vrioni explains the Government's measures
"Little means against smuggling"
"From the oil of the lake, Serbia absorbs 6 percent"
"Although the figure is exaggerated, the amount of fuel that has crossed into Yugoslavia is only 6 percent of the amount Serbia needs for the war."
This was stated yesterday by Finance Minister Dylber Vrioni himself, during the interpellation held in parliament at the request of the Chairman of the PS Parliamentary Group, Namik Dokle, regarding cigarette and fuel smuggling. "Smuggling cannot be stopped by states stronger than ours," Vrioni continued, "because the smugglers' network is very powerful and we have few means at our disposal."

Nobel Prize announced, Kadare reacts
Literature Heaney, an Irish poet, the latest Nobel laureate
INTERVIEW / Nobel Prize announced, Kadare reacts
TIRANA - Finalist dozens of times and never won. Ismail Kadare, the writer from the stone city, "confesses" just a few hours after the Nobel Prize was won by the Irishman Seamus Heaney. "Albania did not help me win," says the world-famous writer for Gazeta Shqiptare. Kadare reflects on what he felt about himself shortly after failing the great "exam" called Nobel.
Is politics always sick? The Albanian writer challenges the criteria used in recent times to win the great prize. "For some time now, there has been speculation about political, racial and psycho-demographic criteria," says Ismail Kadare. The Albanian pen-general seems to know how, even after another defeat, to always keep his calm. For the austere man from the stone city, the true criterion for "deserving" the Nobel is ART.

A birthday, two celebrations
Today is the 100th anniversary of Ahmet Zogu
TIRANA - King Zog's birthday has once again divided Albanian monarchists. One hundred years ago today, Ahmet Zogu was born in Burgajet, near Burrel. But he could not have known that, about a century later, his supporters would celebrate the anniversary separately. Two existing parties, which claim to have behind them the most loyal electorate for the return of the monarchy, have decided to commemorate separately the day Ahmet Zogu came into the world. Two "celebrations" were distributed yesterday and the day before yesterday through newspapers and institutions.

"When the bomb exploded in Skopje"
TIRANA - "It was a terrible noise..."
TIRANA - "It was a terrible noise, the same as the launch of a space rocket." This is how the story of the explosion of the car bomb in Skopje, which seriously wounded the President of Macedonia, Kiro Gligorov, is recounted, as it reaches Tirana. Arriving directly from the Macedonian capital, Tanja Barron, General Manager of East European Partnershp, tells Gazeta Shqiptare everything she experienced in that moment of terror, when she herself was exactly 100 meters from the explosion. "We were in a meeting when that horrifying noise was heard," Tanja says. After that, in the hall, they no longer spoke to one another. We thought we had gone deaf. We heard with our own ears for up to five minutes." Tanja's words are truly vivid, especially when she tries - but cannot find - similar arguments to compare what she had experienced at that moment: "I prefer to compare that noise to the launch of a space rocket," Tanja continues. According to her, the scenes were equally horrifying: people in chaos. "In that atmosphere of fear, I remember only that up to the eighth floor of the building near the explosion, all the window panes were broken," concludes the Londoner Tanja Baron, perhaps the first and only eyewitness protagonist of the Skopje attack - returning in Tirana.

When the “friends of the glass” speak
From Mollasi to Italy, the story of the club of the “abandoners of alcohol”
When the “friends of the glass” speak
Villagers speak about the “drunken” past
TIRANA - When the “swallowers of the glass” speak, or rather the friends of the “drinking”. With a letter sent recently at high level, a group of former drinkers from Mollasi greet their colleagues from recent times. Known for their congress on rope building, Dulet has taken up a Christian hearth - asor Pia Marco - who has had the courage to tell Albanians not to drink "shocked" thus is told the old Korçë tradition, according to which. "Cika" unknown and men drink in one and have [?
…] frequent the alcohol club, it is a tradition - the letter continues - "and now we have understood that life itself, work, joy or love can be understood better without alcohol". For the villagers from Mollasi in Korçë, an era of fortitude seems to have begun from the vapors of alcohol. Many are in love with the freedom they have had - there is no question of breaking away from the glass - so much so that it is a pain and I believe it is evident, it should be in hand. In their "confession" they do not deny anything from their past. As they are, so broken and even not even frail, the former drinkers speak of the harsh ordeal that has made them kill themselves.
It has been two difficult years, when trying to adopt the anti-alcohol rhythm, it was not easy to pass by bars and bars without comparing brandy with beer with the eye".
But now everything is considered over and overcome. The letter also does not hide emotion and nostalgia when the men of Mollasi together stopped in the middle of the square and sang next to raki. "A drop of water became so that from gray in the glass no, bu-vea from Mollasi. For them it doesn't seem faster often and silent and ours. "Everything was temporary, only drink and glass remain [eternal?]".
