What happened that night in December '91
FUSHE-ARREZ - Since tonight, the mothers who had crowded around the food stores are still grieving, while emergency groups continue to pull out the bodies charred by the fire. The bread war - started after Buti’s statement at the government table he was leading - has turned into a slaughter. The massacre took place in just a few minutes inside the food warehouse, surrounded by residents threatened by hunger; flames broke out in the premises and dozens of people trapped in the fire felt the weight of the collapsing roof on their bodies, crushing them to death.
The attack had begun shortly after midday, when the noise of nearly 2,000 people crowding around, clutching wooden planks to protect the warehouse. But the tragedy happened inside the area itself. The city had been without electricity for days. Says Viktor Preni, 24, who survived the massacre: It was dark and someone thought of lighting a torch. The first fire was small, but instead of running away, people climbed to the upper floor. There was still plenty of flour to be taken out (Viktori - and the fire touched us too, but only for the goods that could burn). In the warehouse there were boards, notebooks, cows, and the fire spread quickly. Within minutes the place was filled with smoke. We came in and there was no air, that was the tragic act. Many tried to get out through the windows, but they were barred from the outside, someone was trying to prevent thefts. The warehouse had turned into a death trap. After a few minutes the roof also collapsed, terribly closing the machinery of the (Taken from “La Gazeta del Mezzogiorno” 12 December '91)

One day, while I was going to school, before I entered the courtyard, a man grabbed me by the arm and told me to come quickly by car. I tried to run away, but the other one gripped my arm tightly. He took me by the chest and together with the other men who had taken me, we got into a car. One of them covered my mouth with a handkerchief so I would not shout. My trousers were also of a red kind. He had a reddish face, one of them had a mustache. His hair was black. I cannot describe the other two, because I did not see them very well. After they put me in the car, they grabbed my hands and feet and tied me behind with a tool and put a blindfold on me.
From the car they took me to a place that I could not identify, about 5 minutes from the school. They took me and brought me home, where they left me in a room with handcuffs and a cell phone with a very hard white piece. They tied my eyes with bandage-like cloth in 3 or 4 layers. Later they gave me a piece of bread to eat and a glass of water afterward. While I was eating, they freed my hands, but after the meal they put the handcuffs back on me. At night we slept in the bed where they had left me, all night. The next morning I told them to take me to the bathroom. They untied my legs and took me to the bathroom, which was a French-style toilet. My eyes were tied, but I realized it when I sat on the WC. For the evening meal they gave me a little bread, but in the morning they also gave me mandarins, which were not very sweet. At around one on Wednesday they slowly untied my eyes and put a cap on my head. Then so that I would not look. Later that day they gave me meat to eat. After dinner, around 5 on Wednesday, when I began to call, I was pushed to stay after sleep. Around 9 at night I woke up from sleep to rest a little from sleeping. After 9, the man who slept and had been going out with me earlier came to my bed. That night I could not fall asleep because the man was snoring with coughing. I slept a little and then I was barely put to sleep.
On Thursday morning I woke him up to eat 2 something and half with milk. I did not eat the rolls, but I ate the chocolate with milk. One of the two men who kept me in the house removed my blindfold and showed himself to me. On his face he had a black mask of cotton or wool. His eyes were green. His hair was gray and his lips were rough, and the red color looked faded. He was dressed in a white shirt and blue jeans trousers. After a [?.] he again turned back and uncovered himself again from behind. Later one wore black glasses. He gave me a necklace with stars as a keepsake and told me to put it in my pocket. After we went out he gave me some advice: 1) When you get out of the car, pretend that you are being asked something and come to the corners of the car; 2) Do not say that we mistreated you, but say that we treated you well. After 6 p.m. on Thursday they put an old pillowcase on my head with straps under the car until it took me near votë Arbana. One was driving, the other kept my head lowered. I after the car drove away quickly. It seemed I was very confused because it had caught me. At first I took the wrong road, but [after?] I found the road and went to my uncle’s house. From there I came home. When I got home I was very happy to see my parents and to have escaped from that place where I had stayed for 3 days.

Cardin, Paris lands in Tirana
The famous model-maker comes for Miss '95
TIRANA - Pierre Cardin in Albania? Yes, yes! On 24 November, the famous French stylist, known worldwide thanks to his elegant clothes, Paris shows and fashion, beloved by famous people and women around the world, will be in Albania for three days to oversee Miss Albania '95, the pageant and the accompanying entourage expected to be numerous with their presence in Tirana.
For this other reason, Grabocka had to cause such “scandals.” It was she who in Albania brought the well-known Mikelë Plaçido for Miss '93, the famous actress from the soap opera Beatriz de “14 December orphan”[?], and she is the one bringing Cardin to Tirana. The stylist confirmed his visit a few days earlier, as also anticipated by the French magazine “Le Figaro,” through a fax sent to Grabocka with all his characteristics and the departure.
Pierre Cardin is the chairman of the jury at Miss Albania '95 and it is thought that, given his experience in beauty, he could also choose the winner himself in the “Miss Shqiponja” competition. He lands in Tirana on 24 November and flies out three days later, on the 26th. The girls who go through will compete as soon as they have learned to deal with the weight of themselves and with what will happen on the 25th, the day on which the Albanian Miss will be chosen among them.
But this Miss Grabocka does not stop there. Besides Cardin, Albania is also expected to host the president of Christian Dior, Chanel, as well as the guests Ornela Muti and Claudia Cardinale, who are thought not to have been definitively confirmed. Muti is in Argentina for filming for a week, while Cardinale is in Ireland. Let us hope they all arrive in Tirana before the day. These things are guaranteed by Grabocka.[ ]
