"Opening the files only for election candidates"
INTERVIEW / The Secretary General of the PD states that article 3 of the Antigenocide law will not change
"Opening the files only for election candidates"
Shehu: "Those who falsify documents must be severely punished"
"The files will be opened only for those who seek election." That is the statement of Tritan Shehu, leader of the Democratic Party, who assures that the Files law will not be opened for all former collaborators of the State Security, but only for those who intend to seek a mandate or be appointed to high levels of the state administration. Shehu speaks of a link between the Files law and the law against Genocide, and states that there will be no change whatsoever to article 3 of the "Antigenocide".

"Here is where the ZP dollars ended up"
TIRANA - The story of the printing house of "Zëri i Popullit" and the 400 thousand dollars appeared yesterday for the first time in the courtroom. For hours, the prosecutor reconstructed the long journey of the money from banks in Canada and its transformation into agricultural machinery and other equipment. For a whole hour Përlam(?) Xhixha - the only one accused of misuse of state funds with public interests - rejected it "from the very beginning to the last consonant." The trial continued with witnesses and the second hearing will be on November 24.

A USA base in Albania soon?
Washington Post: "The agreement is being worked out"
TIRANA - Perhaps very soon Albania will be the only country in Eastern Europe to host an American military base. Between the two ministries, in Tirana and the Pentagon, every effort is being made to reach an agreement. The exact location where the first American base in Albania will be built is still unknown; it is thought to be in a place almost 50 kilometers north of the country’s capital. The news was announced in recent days by one of the most serious organs of the American press, the major newspaper of the U.S. capital, "Washington Post", which in a long article also described the key moments of military cooperation between the two countries, considered among the most successful.

Shehi: "In '96, Tirana will have water"
For Bovilla 40 million dollars
TIRANA - "In 1996, homes in Tirana will have water day and night." This is the striking promise of the Minister of Construction Dashamir Shehi, who spoke yesterday at a joint press conference with the Italian ambassador Paolo Foresti. "The complete plans for the Bovilla water supply - Shehi declared - will ensure that drinking water supplies the capital even when its population reaches 1 million inhabitants." So the people of Tirana will not be able to breathe freely and will have to remain patient a little longer until next year. It is foreseen that the problem of discharged sewage will be definitively solved, as well as the dirty water reserves in the eco-school squares, and that electricity will arrive on time throughout the night to fill the barrels.

"Masked ball" in Gjirokastër
In the second [incident], 2 objects are stolen
The same tools, the same methods: investigators are checking the profile of one perpetrator, a masked gang
GJIROKASTËR - A "masked ball" in Libohovë and Gjirokastër. Again seven men and again in a white car have attacked a warehouse and a distributor, seizing and stealing goods worth several million lekë. Thus Gjirokastër is becoming a typical area when it comes to company robberies, as in short periods of time several businesses in the city have become the target of actions organized by "professional" thieves.

"Raki, how far away we are, how far...": Alcohol is banned for workers
ELBASAN - Soon the wavering workers of the Metallurgical Plant will return from work sober. For the employees of the giant factories, the glass of raki and alcohol during official working hours will be reduced. The reason is not ecological, since drunkenness under strict measure has not tried to leave health-safe works, even without alcohol among the possible and murderous and poisonous ones. The reason for the decision is the taking, each time increasing the raki trade for its sale after hours, is the desire of the plant leaders to restore calm and discipline in the metallurgical complex.
"No more alcoholic drinks at work and the buffets will be built for workers." The new regulation has begun to be applied in some of the Metallurgical Plant factories.
Workers interrupt work during hours and spend a good part of their time smoking cigarettes and fernet; this was apparently the main reason that prompted the factory managers to order the ban on alcohol sales in the factory cafés. Indignant with justice and tension, they tell employees: "Don’t drink anymore at work, so that the hanging vines of their water are gathered, who instead of welding equipment hold glasses and raki in their hands." The plant leaders actually give importance to an old decision - even eight years ago the managers had not decided likewise - trying modern forms of "classic" iron discipline. So now for workers only cigarettes, or some "drunken" song with a refrain: "Oh raki, how I longed for you".
