Cham issue in official talks
TIRANE - For about a year now, the Greek government has acknowledged that in bilateral talks, in addition to other problems, the issue of the Chams should also be addressed. This issue, which for a long time has been the object of demands from the Cham community in Albania, has returned to the spotlight in the framework of recent contacts between Tiranë and Athens. Official sources state that this is one of the issues raised during the latest meetings. The Albanian side has stressed the need to resolve property issues and the civil rights of this population. The Greek side has not yet issued a final public position.
