Yesterday in the early hours of the morning, 20-year-old A.Gj. in the capital; his life had come to an end. Beside him were a syringe and an ampoule of distilled water, and around his arm was a shoelace tightly constricted around his veins. The young man, in a state of collapse, was taken by the police to the morgue at Tirana hospital, where an autopsy was also performed. There is no doubt: he had died of an overdose. According to the initial explanations given by specialist doctors, the drug that had been injected must have been extremely potent—heroin is suspected—because only drugs of this kind can cause death. The reasons that may have driven A.Gj. into such a state are still unknown. He had left home on Sunday at around 19:00, called by a friend to attend a party. He did not return all night, and yesterday morning he was found by the police. The incident shocked the student’s acquaintances—he was studying at the Faculty of Economics—as he had led a very orderly life. He was especially passionate about computers, spending most of his day on them. Yesterday, to inquire about the chilling incident, representatives of the Public Order authorities also summoned a friend of the unfortunate young man.
