Ceka: "An example for Albanian politics"
A new agreement between PS and AD has not been ruled out
President of the Republic Sali Berisha held an unexpected meeting yesterday with leaders of the two opposition parties, the Social Democratic Party and the Democratic Alliance. During the conversation, which lasted about 10 minutes, President Berisha greeted the two opposition leaders, Preç Zogaj of AD and Servet Pëllumbi of PSD. The possibility of a new agreement between the two opposition parties was also discussed. According to Ceka, a new climate of understanding and cooperation is being created among the political forces and the 5 September agreement between the opposition and the majority is a good opportunity to avoid the next crisis and to properly prepare Albania’s relations with European structures as well. He also said that he welcomes the Berisha-Ceka meeting. In his view, although attention from the authorities is being directed toward the opposition, this should not be merely for political image, but for genuine cooperation. Speaking directly to the opposition, he said that "we must preserve the value of this meeting, because otherwise all its meaning is lost". President Berisha received leaders of the two opposition parties yesterday at the presidency.
