"First we want opinions, then our recommendations"

Council of Europe reporters reserved. Meeting with the media yesterday TIRANA - Few comments and a great silence from the Council of Europe reporters after their meetings in Albania. The European representatives who arrived in Tirana to verify Albania’s commitments after admission to the Council of Europe preferred only to listen and to give no preliminary assessment. "We are here to represent all sides and we make that clear to the parties involved," said one of the Council of Europe reporters. These words came just before the meeting with the media took place. Only afterwards will we see where we end up in our conclusions and perhaps even make a recommendation to Albania. On page 3 Yesterday the Council of Europe reporters in a meeting with journalists

Second hearing begins in the "Epidam" case

Durrës, witnesses testify DURRËS - The "Epidam" scandal goes to court for the second time, while the state continues to feel in its pockets the absence of a sum of millions of dollars that were not paid to the purchaser. The ray of hope that had lit up at the opening of the proceedings in September, when it was declared in the courtroom that Shqip Bank, the president of the private company, had put up a bank guarantee, has faded. "From all the checks carried out at the Durrës bank and the Trade bank, there is no evidence that any payment was made." On page 5 Durrës Bank

Kills himself on the evening of the celebration

- He had come to celebrate New Year’s Eve with his family after a long separation, but he could not escape grief amid the joy of the evening. Leka had lived through the terror of prison, while his lifeless body swayed on a wild tree. It happened in Kavajë, in the village of Hajdaraj. The victim was a 21-year-old who had been working in Greece for some time. The generally cheerful atmosphere that usually prevails during the traditional holiday days thus became mixed with the joy that came to the unfortunate Albanian family. The police have still not officially confirmed the reasons for the suicide. Another case that has begun to increasingly raise the numbers of emigrants "Nobody can say anything certain until the prosecutor’s office finishes its investigation into the tragedy, but such cases have been seen before. Some emigrants with their work abroad support their families, while others, unable to bear the loss of income for their loved ones, often give in to homesickness, the sudden sense of ruin in trying to realize their dreams, and then tragedies often occur..." A group of youths raids the "house of God"

Fier, three perpetrators detained and later released FIER - On Saturday night, they broke the honor door of one of the wooden buildings in the bishop’s old neighborhood, Kovaçve[?], and overturned the table from Fier, who had stolen from the mosque in their city for two nights in a row. The youths were detained and later released by the Fier Police Commissariat. A doctor helped the perpetrators to decontextualize[?] the matter between the mosque imam and some officers of the commissariat. The cleric complained to the head of the Commissariat about mistreatment. The three young men from the city managed to enter the sacred building for the first time on two different occasions after the electronic equipment used for the imam’s call to prayer disappeared from the mosque of his congregation. On January 2 the three youths managed to blow open the safe where the money of various believers, donated for charitable missions, was kept. The police intervened quickly after the imam of Fier reported the incident and the teenagers were held for a short time in the commissariat cells. In a meeting with the parents of the arrested youths and the imam, it was promised that the sentence would be reduced if the thieves returned the missing items, but meanwhile the three young men have already been released, and thus the misunderstanding arose.
