Home telephone more expensive

But a "hello" from Post Office counters is cheaper The Ministry's draft is ready. New call rates will soon come into force It was a proposal from Albanian Telecom that persuaded the Ministry of Transport and Telecommunications to revise the "prices" for telephone calls, and it seems to have received approval from the finance ministry as well. The aim is - as the experts explain - to narrow the gap between tariffs and the cost of calls, the difference in tariffs between family subscribers and others, and to review them periodically in accordance with the agreement with the European Bank. Under the latest changes - which are expected to come into force very soon - it is planned that for family subscribers, the tariff for the first 200 impulses will rise from 0.80 lek to 1.15 lek. The impulse brackets have also been changed. Thus, if under the previous scale a call from 200 to 500 telephone impulses cost 3.45 lek, one from 500 to 1,000 impulses cost 5.75 lek and one above 1,000 impulses cost 8.05 lek, under the new scale a call from 200 to 300 impulses will cost 345 lek, from 300 to 500 impulses 5.75 lek, and any call above 500 impulses 8.05 lek. Albanians are turning the dial numbers on telephone sets less and less often. During 1995, more than seven thousand fewer call impulses were recorded than in 1994 Andrea Stefani on page 9

Athens: "PS, keep your hands off the Greek minority"

Socialists: "Every party seeks its own votes" Message of dissatisfaction from Greek diplomacy TIRANË - Athens expresses concern and dissatisfaction toward the Albanian Socialists. "Keep your hands off the Greek minority," has recently been the message sent by Greek diplomacy to the PS, delivered through several reserve channels. This refers to the Socialist Party's latest electoral efforts in areas inhabited by the Greek minority in southern Albania. The message appears to have been conveyed to the party leader at the central offices of the largest opposition party in Tiranë. A. Çani on page 3 PS headquarters

Dervishi replies to the Ministry: "The accusations against me are deliberate"

After suspicions of a financial scandal in the FSHF TIRANË - The Federation is challenging the Ministry. The accusations issued following an inspection carried out at the central institution of Albanian football have been rejected by its leaders. "Everything has been done according to the rules and laws in force - they protest at the Federation - and this is proved by all the documentation we have. Moreover, the conclusions drawn by the Ministry, which were openly challenged in a confrontation held at the offices and with its representatives, are considered an attempt to remove the person in charge from his post". "The publication of the results - says Mr. Eduard Dervishi - was done for specific purposes". On page 9 Eduard Dervishi

Into the icy river for the cross

BERAT - A plunge into the icy waters of the river to bring back to Christian believers the holy symbol of Christ. The ancient ceremony continued, beyond the usual light, this time too in the country's largest cities with the Orthodox ritual, thus giving all citizens the idea of the desire for the New Cross, which is a force of blessing. In Berat, during the ceremony of immersing the Cross in the waters of the Osum near the Goricë Bridge, four fishermen gave the river a great deal of water; more than 10,000 people. As it will [?], the Cross was lowered into the cold waters around 10:00 and the efforts to retrieve it then began. 30,000 lek, that was the price paid by the fisherman of Berat, Armand Dervini, a 23-year-old from the "Goricë" neighborhood. Armand was one of the 12 people who tried their strength in the waters of the Osum in search of glory. A similar ceremony was held yesterday in Elbasan as well. The Epiphany feast was led yesterday by priest Gjergj Trocka, who yesterday was not, as usual, in the center of the church, but had taken his place on the banks of the Shkumbin, where the ancient ceremony was taking place. The climax of the celebration, as usual, came when Trocka ceremoniously threw the cross into the cold waters of the river. The champion of the feast was declared one of the most successful seekers in the icy waters in bringing out the cross for the Christian believers, who cheered him for a long time. It was about three-thousand of the year to [?] give the gift, who benefited not only from the joy of the occasion from others there, but also from a considerable reward that had long been announced. Car theft: Selimi released

The driving school president is innocent TIRANË - The president of the driving school, Selimi, who was involved in the car theft trafficking network, has been released from handcuffs. Two courts have decided to change the security measure against him. The evidence brought before the judges seems to have saved him from the accusation of collaboration with the largest network of thieves caught so far. Agim Selimi, the president of a practical driving school, has announced a new decision. The discovery of the car theft network had been made only a few weeks earlier. In the police operation, the authorities had managed to capture members of the group who had spread their activity across several districts of Albania. Five of them, young in age, were from Tiranë. Along with them, several others who had bought the vehicles stolen by the robbery group had also ended up in police handcuffs. Ylenia Carrisi, even after two years remains a mystery

Parents Albano and Romina continue to hope ROME - Exactly two years ago, Ylenia Carrisi disappeared without a trace in New Orleans, in the United States of America. The mystery began then, when the aquarium guard reported that he had seen a blonde girl, perhaps the daughter of Albano and Romina, who had thrown herself into the Mississippi to drown. Ylenia's tracks, it seems, have remained precisely on the riverbank. On page 2 Ylenia Carrisi
