"Death sentence for the killers of the money changer"
TIRANA - "I request the death penalty," was the sentence sought by the prosecutor for the killers of the money changer. Yesterday, during the trial, taking into account mitigating circumstances in the crime committed, he requested the "death penalty by firing squad" for 22-year-old Pal Gjergji and Altin Koçi, who after him are considered the main culprits for the crime committed. Pal Gjergji is charged with theft resulting in the death of the 36-year-old money changer, committed in cooperation with other adolescent members of his group. The judicial investigation found that Gjergji shot the money changer on 13 June last year with the pistol he was carrying and that belonged to the gang of robbers. Meanwhile, in addition to the above charges, Altin Koçi also faces the accusation of falsifying identity documents, which were found on the body of the deceased in an attempt to flee abroad. The third accomplice in the killing of the money changer, 21-year-old Gjergj Stuni - according to the prosecutor - should be declared guilty, but a lighter sentence of 25 years in prison has been requested for him. Also on trial in this case is 42-year-old Riza Meta from Shkodër, because he sold the three young men the pistols used to commit the murder. For this charge, the prosecutor has requested a 3-year prison sentence, z.a. kr.
