Stefanopulos: “Legalization, but with documents”

Berisha: Minorities given free rein to establish private schools The ice has melted between Tirana and Athens. This was the message brought from Greece by the president of our southern neighbor, Stefanopulos. Arriving in Tirana yesterday, the Greek President assured his Albanian counterpart right on the airplane steps that “the visit will mark a new period in Albania-Greece relations.” The Albanian president was also optimistic, saying that “a new chapter will open between our two peoples and countries.” After the ceremony at Rinas, the first official stop was at Parliament. After 57 years: “You are a found child”

His cousins reveal the “secret” in court Durrës, he had gone to court over a property dispute DURRËS—He goes to court to resolve a property dispute, but unexpectedly comes face to face with the greatest tragedy of his life. After 57 years, he “learns” that those he had called his parents were not the people who gave birth to him. He is L. Vrioni, 57, from the town of Shijak, who lost his real parents years ago. He had been sued in court over a property dispute by two daughters of his maternal aunt, but instead of presenting the cadastral documents, they claimed that Vrioni had no right to inherit his parents’ estate because he was not a legitimate child, but a foundling. One of the women, herself elderly, testified in court that 57 years earlier Vrioni had been found abandoned on a bank of the Erzen. According to them, his future parents had been deeply moved by the sight of the innocent crying baby and had taken him into their home, adopting him. This distant past had nevertheless remained a great secret, which they had always kept with them and taken to their graves without telling even the foundling himself. But while they had no knowledge of such a thing, this was not the case with his two plaintiffs, who “uncovered” the truth, as they claimed, during the proceedings. The judge was stunned by such an unexpected revelation during the hearing and decided to postpone it. Vrioni must now establish his own rights and contest his parents’ status, while also finding a name for his parents. Artur Komiku
