Pëllumbi: “Nano should name names”
At the same time, congratulations for the accusations made by Benca
The socialist leader’s memo will be discussed today in the PS Steering Committee
Day of tension: the parties gather
“Let the dialogue awaken”
TIRANA - Yesterday the executive leadership of the PDS described as unacceptable the statement by the chairman of the Socialist Party, Fatos Nano, who last Friday accused senior state officials of links to drug cartels without naming names. Nano promised he would make the names public at the meeting of his party’s KPD, scheduled for today. The National Steering Committee is continuing its work today as well, but the issue of the party chairman’s statement is not on the agenda. It is expected to be raised by members of the leadership, and, as is understood, a special statement is being prepared condemning the unproven accusations.
TIRANA - The chairman of the Socialist Party, Servet Pëllumbi, yesterday asked Fatos Nano to make public the names of the people who, according to him, are linked to drug trafficking. “We cannot accept such general accusations without evidence,” said Pëllumbi. According to him, the PS should not become a refuge for political insinuations.
VLORË - Nguljative requested a review of the decision to keep him in custody. He stood by his statement, claiming that the accusations had been made in the name of senior state and police officials. He said he would present his statements to the party bodies.

Local elections, voting on 20 October
Municipalities without files
TIRANA - The Socialist Party yesterday requested that local government elections be postponed until the end of October and held under a majority system in the municipalities and proportional representation in the municipal councils. In a press statement, the PS parliamentary group asked that the elections be held only after the municipal files have been closed and administered by impartial commissions.
In another statement, PD representatives said that 20 October is a suitable date for the local vote and that the process should begin according to the established calendar.
