Bujar Bami, one of the people suspected of possibly carrying out the sensational attack a few days ago against a law-enforcement officer, has himself fallen victim to a professional hit. From two motorcycles, a hail of automatic-gunfire bullets was unleashed. Bami died at the scene, while his companion—both were riding on one motorcycle—was seriously wounded. According to criminalistics experts, they had been shot from very close range, and both had been hit on the left side of their bodies. The killers abandoned their vehicles and fled, at least according to one source, in a car. The incident took place on Tuesday evening, at 21:30, near the place known as Oxhaku. Bami had been wanted by the police for some time, and was also charged in connection with another attempted murder. His companion, Roland Rapi, was taken to the military hospital with serious injuries, and doctors say that although he has four bullets in his body, he is out of danger. Rapi is under constant police guard in the surgery ward. The victim had six bullets in his body, and no medical assistance could have saved him. The two motorcycles used by the killers—they had no license plates—have been impounded by the police, who are trying to trace the killers or at least establish the identities of their owners. Their chassis numbers will be checked and compared with customs records showing how they entered Albania. The circumstances of the incident are still not entirely clear. At 21:20, two groups of young people were arguing with each other about 30 metres from the square called Xhamlliku.
