“Revolt” at ZP pushes back the leadership

Ruci is ousted, Rama is the new editor-in-chief Peace returns. But tension remains between the leadership and the PS of Tiranë: “They sabotaged our meeting” TIRANË - The Socialist leadership is forced to withdraw its decision regarding the post of head of “Zëri i Popullit.” The candidacy of Lulzim Ruci—put forward two days earlier by the PS’s top forum—was dropped within 24 hours, allowing Luan Rama’s candidacy to triumph. The appointment of 30-year-old Rama was made yesterday evening by Medjani and Majko, only a few hours after a delegation of “ZP” journalists had proposed a name to the party leadership for the “sceptre” of editor-in-chief. But while hostilities have ceased between “ZP” and the party, considerable tension remains in relations between the socialists of Tiranë and the party’s top leadership. “The PS leadership sabotaged us,” the PS of Tiranë accused yesterday. It is convinced that it has never acted against the PSSH statute. On page 3 The “ZP” building (above); Medjani

Ministries start doing the “makeover”

CHANGES IN TIRANË’S SQUARE TIRANË - The ministries “bring” new-colored façades to Tiranë. After the exterior façades of the ministry buildings were made to look better and more attractive, from the front—where they had struggled to compete with the capital’s [?] places—the color yellow is now no longer noticeable. “Tirana must get a new face.” Apparently, as part of this reform to beautify everything that represents our city in Albania, the ministers have decided to contribute—surely out of their own pockets—to making the center of Tiranë as presentable as possible, especially since the façades of the place [?] are nearby. The “Paint” operation has had a considerable impact; perhaps other “surprises” have also been reserved for passers-by, after a long time, to create a festive atmosphere in the capital. (Ar. Ça.)

Another “victim” of Enver: Radio editor dismissed

A song about Hoxha had been broadcast on Friday Emergency meeting yesterday with the heads of State Radio TIRANË - Another “victim” for Enver. The former Albanian dictator has been “resurrected” and, through the radio waves of the state broadcaster, has been “presented” and has gripped Albania. A song about Hoxha, from the communist era in Albania, was broadcast on the Radio. “Was it a technical error or an ideological error?” During the session, the song’s editor of the program, who was responsible for [...], was put to work. The unusual incident happened two days ago. During the children’s program titled “On the Wave of Our Growth,” the notes of a song about the former dictator were heard, with the words “Comrade Enver, Uncle Enver” repeated many times. The technical staff in charge were unable for a few moments to [...], and so the “forbidden song” was broadcast for around two minutes, for more than two minutes, over the state radio waves. After that, further transmission of the song was interrupted. There was alarm at the Radio premises. But everything would have remained just a word, an alarm, without clarifying who would feel it yesterday. The state voice media, as is customary on “weekend” days, saw a great deal of activity in its building. One after another, the Director General of Radio Television, Bardhyli Pollon, Antoneta Malja, the deputy directors of the institution, Arben Karapici, head of Radio, and many others—the heads of the institution’s departments—arrived early in the morning at the Radio to examine the incident. The blame fell squarely on the program’s editor, from whose waves the praise for Enver Hoxha had been broadcast. Shkelzen Zalli is said to have been dismissed. Elo Elini
