Fino and the referee, the politician’s conscience
POLITICIANS-SPORTS JOURNALIST 5/2 / ON THE PRESS TRIBUNE A PERSONAL FAN AND FINO’S FINE Fino and the referee, the politician’s conscience The former prime minister of the Government of Reconciliation’s hat-trick TIRANA - A football match, as usual, between artists and sports journalists, played on Friday afternoon on the annex pitch of the "Dinamo" stadium, brought to light the "profession" of the improvised referee, former prime minister Bashkim Fino. As one of the spectators at the match, the newspaper’s correspondent near the FSHF briefly asked the former prime minister about the unsporting foul committed against one of the players. Bashkim Fino, in his sportsmanlike style, threw off the referee’s gloves and replied with a now well-known phrase: "Regardless of the situation, democracy will dominate in the country." This answer, according to our correspondent, caused laughter among those present. After the match ended, which was won by the sports journalists’ team by a score of 7-0, and after the cameras flashed, former prime minister Fino also revealed his "card" as a journalist and sports commentator. Asked whether he had seen our national team’s performance against Germany, the former prime minister said that "in matches like that, he was trying to calm politics down." The next day, when asked at a political press tribune how he would assess his performance as referee, fan, and politician, Fino said that "if things in politics go smoothly, refereeing also becomes easier."
