War with Zani’s gang: three captured, one wounded man escapes The Deputy Interior Minister says: “We will not leave Vlora until we wipe out crime” VLORA - Unpredictable scenes have been recurring in Vlora since yesterday afternoon, from 6:30 p.m. At the entrance to the city, in the Skela area, RENEA and rapid intervention forces blocked off two houses, where dangerous elements from the criminal underworld were believed to be hiding. Gunfire then broke out and could be heard throughout Vlora. Sources from the Ministry of the Interior said that, after last night’s assessment meeting, attended by Deputy Interior Minister Bare, Police General Director Klosi, and the Prefect of Vlora, Kume, it was decided to escalate the operation to capture the armed individuals. Since Saturday, a major operation has been under way in Vlora to arrest wanted persons. The ministry says that, as a result of this operation, by yesterday evening 18 people had been arrested for murder and robbery. In addition, 30 weapons, shells and grenades were seized. According to the sources, the operation began yesterday at around 6:30 p.m. Large police forces surrounded two villas in the “Pavarësia” neighborhood, where wanted persons were believed to be hiding. One of them was said to be fortified and reinforced, while machine guns had been positioned on the terrace. As soon as the police approached, fire was opened from inside. For several minutes there was a fierce clash with automatic weapons. Special forces then entered one of the houses and arrested three people, while another managed to escape wounded. Late in the evening, Deputy Interior Minister Ilir Bare declared that the police would not leave Vlora until crime is completely eradicated. PASK TUSHA: 3 AS KILLED INCIDENT
