"Zhduki threatened us with execution"

Head of Air Defense: "How we averted the tragedy" We had orders to blow up Mifol Bridge, but none of us agreed [?] INTERVIEW / General Ylli Dylma speaks: Investigations into the tragic events of March "Zhduki threatened us with execution" Head of Air Defense: "How we averted the tragedy" "We had orders to blow up Mifol Bridge, but none of us agreed" TIRANA - Although seven [?] months have passed since the serious events, the head of the Air Defense Forces Command, brigadier general Ylli Dylma, still seems traumatized when he recalls the dramatic days of March. Asked by the newspaper "Shqiptare" about which were the most difficult moments of those days, General Dylma states that one of the most problematic periods for him and his subordinates was the night of 6 March 1997, when air command personnel, on orders from the Defense Committee, had set off to bomb Mifol Bridge. During his conversation with journalist Ylli Bregu, General Dylma says that these days he is verifying everything that happened in the aviation units during the March unrest and destruction. He emphasizes that within this month all the air force reports and its subordinate units will be submitted to the Minister of Defense, Mrs. Liri Belishova. He also writes that both specialists and the senior leaders of this branch were particularly careful to avoid numerous casualties among the civilian population, as well as to keep weapons and war reserves under control. TIRANA - The sudden developments of March in our country caused the entire chain of military command to collapse within just a few days. Now, with the passing of the months, it is easy to understand how close the situation was to slipping into a civil war. The situation in the aviation units at the beginning of March was quite tense, but, as the former commander of the air defense division, brigadier general Ylli Dylma, tells the newspaper "Shqiptare", thanks to special care and the professionalism of the leaders and personnel, disaster was averted. By carrying out an improvised exercise, the units were kept under control, the weapons and war reserves were hidden, thereby saving them from armed groups, and the bombing of Mifol Bridge was prevented, an order issued in the name of the then President of the Republic.

"Police, speak to us on Skype [?]"

ETHICS "Police, speak to us on Skype [?]" Prosecution: Rakipi at the head TIRANA - The promotion of President Meidani in parliament of the Chairman of the Republic's General Prosecutor, Rakipi, is becoming the main issue of the day, according to today's news report in the newspaper "Koha Jonë". The author's dilemma lies in the name of the candidate who will fill the vacant post. This has involved both the left and right camps in Parliament, where it seems that not even one example of deputies from that time voting for Meidani has a clear choice for the important post of Prosecutor General. According to sources from the Socialist Party, the most preferred name is that of Paskal Milo to replace Arben Rakipi. But Pjetër Arbnori has also asked for such a thing, stating that since the president is being elected with the votes of the opposition, it makes no sense for a candidate from the left to be chosen for this post. Meanwhile, according to the source closest to the head of state, the president's associate M. Koci, a woman could eventually take the position. In his opinion, the most suitable candidate is the former judge of the Constitutional Court, Natasha Mulaj. This proposal seems to have excited some right-wing and left-wing deputies. Also, left-wing deputies have stated that this is one of the best solutions for the country. Rakipi is retiring upon completing his mandate. Çeka
