A well-known man of Tirana escapes the police assault
Yesterday a violent crackdown also began in Tirana: checks and ambushes against the most wanted
TIRANË - Four days after the first police operation in Shkodër, it is reported that hundreds of police officers raided yesterday to capture the most dangerous and most wanted people in Tirana. For the first time since the unrest began, numerous groups of masked police officers, wearing bulletproof vests and armed as if for war, were deployed across the capital and began checks at the most suspicious spots where people with criminal records and files hide and move around.
The entire operation was carried out by special forces, RENEA, special units, police stations and civilian services. During a surprise action, the police checked various points, premises, problematic areas and places known as bases of criminal groups. Well-known names from Tirana’s underworld were in the crosshairs.
According to police sources, the checks were focused on several highly dangerous individuals, among them Nehati, a well-known figure in Tirana, who managed to escape the police operation. Sources on the ground say that the police set up roadblocks, checked vehicles and carried out inspections in many neighborhoods of the capital.
The operation is considered a continuation of the offensive launched in Shkodër against armed individuals and perpetrators of criminal incidents in recent months. Newspaper sources say the action will continue in the coming days.
