Special forces rob and threaten citizens
TIRANA - The Military Prosecutor's Office is investigating a highly complex case about which the public knows very little, concerning an “abuse of duty”. It is about the long-standing removal of several Albanian generals for no clearly stated reason. So far only one of them has asked to return to the army, Brigadier General Hysen Shç[...]li [?]. It is known that most of our generals, including the former heads of command, were accused of many things. In the previous issue of “Gazeta Shqiptare” information was published about the newly dismissed Minister of Defense, Safet Zhulali. Some of our former generals, who were removed from the army on the first order of President Berisha, are not reacting. If they are motivated enough to submit their requests to return to the posts they held, one by one, then the Prosecutor's Office will be on duty and will act according to the law. This means that those responsible for abuse of duty will be identified and prosecuted. The article also includes developments related to the March unrest and institutional responsibilities.

MOTHER TERESA
TIRANA - The serious illness that kept her bedridden for three months in an American clinic caused the death of Mother Teresa. On Friday evening, at the age of 87, the eyes of the saint of the Albanians closed forever. Reliable sources in Calcutta announced that she had been struck by the serious illness. Her death caused pain and tears throughout the world. Thousands of people gathered outside the temple where she lived. The cause of death was again a heart attack. In 1989 she had suffered one, while the last year had been extremely hard on her health. She was born in Skopje in 1910 with the name Gonxhe Bojaxhiu and at 18 moved to Calcutta, where she founded the order “Missionaries of Charity”.

After the quarrel over the RTV law
TIRANA - After a fierce clash with the majority over its opposition to the draft law on public radio and television, the Democratic Party appears to be finding a strong ally in the President of the Republic. Democratic MPs have stated that they will take the issue to the Constitutional Court and that they will rely on the president's stance. In the recent sessions, arguments clashed over powers, public media, and political control over RTV.

Simitis: “Residence permit from 1 to 3 years”
ATHENS - The Greek government's decision regarding Albanian migrants does not seem at all easy to implement. According to Greek sources, residence permits will be issued in stages and for periods ranging from 1 to 3 years, depending on employment criteria and documentation. The Simitis government has tried to balance the demands of the Greek economy with domestic political pressure. The authorities have said the procedures will begin soon and will be strictly controlled.
