TIRANA.- Albert Brojka denounces the scandal of the theft of disability pensions. They uncovered the scandal for us. It was stolen from us by the very directors of the citizens' administration. This is how the Mayor of Tirana, Albert Brojka, spoke yesterday before 13 million Albanians in the TV Klan studio. According to him, social assistance was stolen in the Municipality of Tirana for a year. "In my office false documents were discovered, with official letters and false stamps. Pensions were stolen from people who are not in Albania, who have died and who are in prison." For the mayor of Tirana, the persons who abused the documentation are the employees of the citizens' administration. "The officials, morally, should be made to blush and shut themselves away in shame. There are people who have abused families in need. These people, with the soul of jackals and bloodsuckers, must answer before justice." According to Albert Brojka, more than 36,000 false entries with fake stamps and more than 29,000 false booklets were found in his office. For the mayor of Tirana, whoever is making these accusations is concerned with the investigation and not with finding the culprits. But when the journalist asked whether he knew anything about the case two weeks earlier, when he was appointed to the post of mayor, he replied: "The facts were brought to me on Monday. I had no knowledge." At the end of his statement to TV Klan, Albert Brojka called on the прокуратура to bring those responsible before justice.

TIRANA.- Gazmend Uznin, the judge who handed down a life sentence for Ramiz Alia and former members of the Political Bureau, believes that the decision against Sudja should be somewhat harsher. He, on the other hand, finds the verdict issued against Milošević by the Hague Tribunal quite significant. For Uznin, the Hague Tribunal should have dealt earlier with the Albanian issue in Kosovo, but in the absence of official documents, no one can directly accuse the leader of Belgrade.

TIRANA.- For half a century, Ismail Kadare's work "The Monster" has remained in silence. It might never have become the property of the English-speaking reader if the sensational discovery of its main character, Maks, had not also occurred. A wonderful mosaic of colors bearing the title of Kadare's work and its Albanian translator Agim Shehu has arrived at this office from New York. "At last the English reader will get to know this special work by Ismail," Agim Shehu told "Gazeta Shqiptare". The discovery of Maks is astonishing. Is it the same man who lives in the USA? Agim Shehu says yes. Until now, no one had known anything about this man. In Kadare's manuscript he was a drawn-out night creature, with large eyes, silent and mysterious. Now he has emerged alive, like a character found by reality. This news makes the English publication of "The Monster" even more special.
