The Prosecutor’s Office has asked the Ministry of the Interior and SHIK for a response concerning the assailant’s possible employment in the structures of these agencies. “He tried to fire, but the pistol wouldn’t go off. According to the second account, someone struck his hand and the bullet flew into the air. The man fired several more times until people disarmed him,” the reporter recounts at the beginning of March, Minister of the Interior Ceka. After the incident, there was no investigation and no complaint. Only later did the current head of public order file the relevant complaint himself, thereby prompting the opening of the case. MAMURRAS. Playing billiards: they fall into comas. Generator fumes put 6 people’s lives at risk. MAMURRAS - A passion for billiards left six young people from Mamurras in serious health condition. They were playing at one of the billiard halls in the city center when the power suddenly went out. The billiard-hall owner immediately started up a supposedly old generator, which produced more dense, deadly smoke than electrical power. The gas it produced sent the young people into comas. The generator, which burned gasoline, apparently was not working properly, so for hours the passionate “players” breathed in the gas that was being emitted unburned. They were Agron Muçete, 20, Liljana Seferi, 34, Armand Lesi, 42, and Hamdi Shala, 37, all four from Fushë-Kruja, and two others from Mamurras, Agron Sula, 20, and Ilir Vraneçi, 27. The six people who had been poisoned were found unconscious by other bingo “players” who had come there to play as usual. They were immediately taken to Laç hospital, but since their condition was very critical, after receiving first aid they were rushed to Tirana. This incident appears to have marked the most terrible day for Mamurras bingo. After yesterday’s incident, the establishment, one of the most popular in the small town, was empty for the first time. Nevertheless, the condition of the six accident victims appears to be out of danger. After intensive treatment at the hospital in Tirana, the level of toxins in their bodies has fallen. Specialized hospital sources confirmed to the newspaper that the billiards “fans” had truly put their lives at risk. a.b.
