Secret orders for delicate operations, especially in the South, surveillance and pursuit, reports and other directives—everything is now being recorded in the Commission’s massive dossier. Well-informed sources said that the Ministry of the Interior alone has nearly 2,800 pages of material, while Naval Fleet Counterintelligence alone has more than 1,900 written pages. On page 5

THE CHRISTMAS MIRACLE Fier, the dead girl knocks at the door A few minutes before the funeral ceremony FIER - Christmas really does seem to work miracles. They were weeping in front of their dead daughter’s coffin, but suddenly she appeared at the door of the house, and at the sight before their eyes, they fainted. Her family threw water on her, but were now much more relieved, since the tragedy had not involved them but someone else. The rare event took place in a village in Patos. Two days ago, the police found a burned body in the village of Zharëz and, after an examination, established that it belonged to a young woman. At the same time, the parents of a girl—who had been away from home for three days—went to the police station to report her missing. There they came across the burned body and, without thinking too much, connected it with their missing daughter. They took it home and immediately began wailing, lamenting with their relatives over what had happened. They quickly arranged the funeral and set a time for the burial, but the absence of some relatives—who had said they would come—made them wait a little longer. It seems this wait was fortunate for the grieving family. At the height of the wailing, the supposedly dead girl appeared in the doorway. As soon as they saw her, she collapsed; when she came to, she explained that she had been visiting some relatives and had been unable to let them know in time. The mourning turned into a celebration and, instead of coffee, Turkish delight was handed around. Meanwhile, the coffin of the girl found two days earlier remained there amid the celebrations. The police were notified; they had considered the case closed. Her family had to take the coffin back to the police station. It was then sent to Tirana, as there was nowhere to keep it. They are expected to broadcast an announcement on television, together with a photo of the mutilated woman, in order to identify her. Nevertheless, for one family in a village in Patos, yesterday brought both extremes. They went from tears of sorrow to tears of joy. Indeed, the guests who had come to attend the funeral said this was a gift from God on the eve of Christmas. Meanwhile, the more skeptical people continued to question the girl, who had not informed anyone that she was leaving home.
