VOICE OF THE EPOCH
There are no more battle cries from the top of the state; agreements will determine whether the Albanian government will undertake a consultative procedure for the most acceptable possible resolution of the crisis. After missing the constitutional deadline, yesterday in the Presidency the governing coalition met with the participation of Prime Minister Fatos Nano and the leaders of the allied parties. At the center of the talks was the date for the start of the trial over the March 1997 events, which, according to the government, should be monitored by international bodies. Prime Minister Nano called for the March proceedings to be transparent and to avoid any political use. Meanwhile, the opposition has announced protests and demanded that the trial be postponed.

Threat at the Prime Minister's Office:
"We will burn you alive"
TIRANE - Moments of anxiety for the chairman of the parliamentary committee on Public Order, Democratic MP Azem Hajdari, and for the residents of the Prime Minister's house, after two threatening phone calls that have been disturbing them every night. Yesterday morning, police from Station No. 3 went to the place where the first call is believed to have been made. It occurred around 24:00 two days earlier, at the place known as “Rruga e Kavajës”, where there is a telephone booth. Shortly afterward, police were informed that a second call with the same threatening content had come in. The place where the second call is believed to have been made is a telephone booth near the former bus park. Both calls had the same content: “We will burn you alive.” According to the police, the callers have not been identified. These threats are being taken seriously, given the tense political situation in the country.
TIRANA - The security forces rushed to verify anonymous threatening calls aimed at the Prime Minister's residence: “We will burn you alive.” Police checked a public phone point on Rruga e Kavajës and another near the former bus park.

TIRANA - While the party president, Tritan Shehu, insists on an institutional stance by the Democratic Party regarding the latest developments, other groups within the party are calling for an escalation of political action. The debate has intensified after the failure of efforts to reach an agreement with the majority. According to sources, part of the leadership fears that excessive rhetoric is damaging the party's image. Meanwhile, other activists see this as a moment for maximum mobilization.
