Immediately after the block, the general directorate of customs entered the scene and ordered the release of the lorries. Representatives of the Ministry of Public Order opposed this action, insisting that the goods should be seized until the investigations are completed. Sources from Pogradec report that the value of the goods reaches around 480 thousand dollars. The appeal is published in full on page five and the signatures are those of 518 personalities from Albanian public life. However, alongside an optimistic atmosphere, the campaign is being accompanied by political tensions. What the Constitution is and why it should be voted for

maybe she's the mum? For the first time, more than 500 intellectuals, artists and athletes address the public opinion today with an appeal to approve the new Constitution of Albania by referendum. More than six newspaper pages are filled with their names. Here there are names of professors, painters, academics, writers and singers, footballers and directors. For the first time, people from culture and those from sport, who are not very concerned with either politics or referendums, are responding so massively to such an initiative. In a way, this shows that in the country’s strained atmosphere a new hope has been born. At least for part of Albanian society, the constitution is being seen as a way out of the political deadlock. Are there constitutional clauses, articles or legal formulations in its text that could raise questions? Yes. In fact, there may be quite a few. A constitution is not an irreplaceable work of art. Nor is it a document that cannot be touched. It can be reviewed, amended, improved. Precisely because it is a political contract. But what matters at this moment is the fact that the country urgently needs a rule accepted by the majority, a legitimate framework that will limit the arbitrariness of power and protect citizens’ freedoms. The proposed Constitution is not perfect. But rejecting it without offering a credible alternative would leave the country in an even more dangerous void. If the referendum fails, we risk remaining hostage to repeated institutional crises. That is why the appeal of the 518 personalities has a special weight: not because the signatories are infallible, but because they are signaling that civil society is entering the debate and seeking a solution through democratic means. In this sense, voting for the constitution is more than a choice about a text. It is a choice for normality.
