The spectacular fraud in broad daylight at the Savings Bank Spectacular fraud in broad daylight at the Savings Bank He steals 43 million with a fake cheque A swindler has managed to extract from the country’s most powerful bank a sum of 43 million lek by means of a forged cheque. The scandal that erupted at the Savings Bank occurred last Friday, and only on Friday evening was the credit director—while only then was the identification of the culprit brought to his attention—aware that the matter had to be handled quietly. A swindler appeared at the main branch of the Savings Bank in Tirana with a cheque for 43 million lek in the name of a forged cheque. To carry out his plan, he acted with at least one accomplice. The latter seems to have had the role of the person who was supposed to take the cheque to be cashed, while the other managed to control the situation, thus to his own advantage. To carry out the plan, two taxis and other people ready to leave were waiting at the bank doors. According to police sources, a person named the culprit appears in the personnel depot of the Savings Bank and entered the reservation cabin, enraged by the financial situation in the country.
