The country now has more than just a conflict between residents and the police. At least during yesterday’s day, the confrontation at this district’s police station seems to have taken an unbelievable turn. Referring to the rumored reconciliation the night before, yesterday morning a border police patrol set out on duty. Shortly afterward, at the checkpoints in Qafë Morinë, border officers met a group of police officers from the station. According to witnesses, deputy commissioner Minush Ceka began striking border chief Captain Ali Shehu with an automatic rifle, and he was killed on the spot. Police officer Bedri Hoxha was also seriously wounded by the gunfire. After that, the perpetrator fled. Large police forces arrived at the scene. The Ministry of the Interior described the event as an act of revenge. The incident comes after the killing of an officer and ongoing tensions in Tropojë. Continued on page 3
