VLORE - The submarine base at Pasha Liman is now trying to pull itself out of misery and darkness. Almost completely abandoned, after repeated destruction and looting, it is left with four old Soviet submarines and several small military vessels as relics of the army. According to navy specialists, the place that once was the pride of the Albanian army today is not only a half-destroyed base, but also a place where even the most important object of the Ministry of Defence has disappeared. In the Pasha Liman base everything has turned into scrap metal.
TIRANE - The Albanian government has declared that it will ask NATO and the EU to compensate the damage caused by the war in Kosovo. “The amount of the damage is large,” said the government spokesman, stressing that foreign experts will be relied upon to calculate the losses. Navy specialists estimate that around 500 million USD will be needed to rebuild the base.

TIRANË - Never before has the NATO record-holder, as Berisha puts it, denied the 12 hours of undeclared “internet” in the headquarters and offices of the alliance’s representatives. The latest political developments have pushed former Prime Minister Sali Berisha to note every move it makes. A new office has been improvised to produce not only political statements, but also “reports” on the alliance’s movements. Very close to Prishtina, he says, are the centers that supply information to the blue headquarters.
