Nano in Israel for Gazidede
What did the former leader and former head of SHIK say with the Islamists?
The prime minister announced a surprise visit to the land of Mossad
Without any announcement and without noise, the name of the Albanian prime minister does not appear on the list of personalities who will visit Israel in the coming days [...]. So he would end up being the last among the leaders of the Albanian state to know about the presence of the Albanian prime minister in Tel Aviv. First, because at Rinas airport, from where he departs for Israel, nobody may be there to see him off. Second, because the media have not reported such a thing. [...] The visit of the Albanian prime minister to Israel was made known only yesterday evening by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Its first purpose, according to the ministry's announcement, is a meeting with the President of Israel, Ezer Weizman, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Foreign Minister David Levy. According to the announcement, the Albanian prime minister will also speak with representatives of Israeli business. But what makes the strongest impression in this visit, even from the first announcement, is what is not said. Nothing is said about whom the Albanian prime minister will meet during his stay in Israel. Nor is it said how this meeting was prepared and whether it was requested by the Albanian side or by the Israeli side. Nothing is said about the agenda of the talks Nano will have in Tel Aviv. Nothing is said about whether the prime minister will have a meeting with the heads of the Israeli intelligence services. That is precisely the doubt that increases interest in this trip. Because in recent days the Albanian press has strongly brought back the name of the former head of SHIK, Bashkim Gazidede. His name has again been linked with Islamist movements and with his staying abroad. In this context, the Albanian prime minister's sudden visit to Israel has raised the question: is Nano going for Gazidede? Will he seek information from Mossad? Is this visit connected to dark files from the troubled Albanian period? The newspaper raises these questions, while it remains to be seen what this visit will bring and what relation it will have to the name of Bashkim Gazidede.
