Oil blackens life
Lower taxation for oil importers. Volume increases
Tax changes are expected to raise the price
The government tackles smuggling, but this may signal higher prices
The government has decided to change the classification applied to domestic oil. According to specialists, it was previously taxed as a by-product, while now it will be treated as a raw material. This move by the government, according to economic specialists, is intended to curb oil smuggling, but on the other hand it could also lead to a price increase. Domestic oil was used for processing and mixed with by-products brought in through imports. By changing the classification, importers will have other fiscal obligations. Specialists believe that this may also affect the market.
