ROW Minister of Defense Sabit Brokaj responded yesterday to the accusations made by former Minister of Defense Fatmir Mediu, regarding ties to the armed group from Cërrik. In a special interview for “Gazeta Shqiptare”, Brokaj answered questions from journalist Albert Gjoka on current political issues. According to Mr. Brokaj, the Albanian government continues to be in crisis because of clashes among the leaders of the coalition. He is calling for Sabit Brokaj to be removed from the post of Minister of Defense. Mediu said yesterday for “Gazeta Shqiptare” that Çeka is a minister of the Agrarian Party and that his removal should be requested by that party and not by the PR. “Apparently I have disturbed certain people with 2-3 positions, because I am against the plundering of institutions, against the UÇK, and against the so-called anti-communist groups, which in fact are bastards of the State Security. Only this could have bothered specific people, such as Mr. Mediu, who interpreted my statement in his own way...” Brokaj said yesterday. He then appealed to Prime Minister Nano to react and provide further explanations about Çeka’s position in the government. “It is not true that I asked for Çeka’s removal, but I asked for clarification of his role,” Brokaj said.
