Words, devaluation in lists

The mysteries of Arqip’s documents, names hidden in the indexing[?] They are judges, foreigners, politicians... The government will seize illegally acquired properties from beneficiaries They are judges, foreigners, politicians... The government will seize illegally acquired properties from beneficiaries Meda’s hawk[?] VIP NAMES IN THE PAGES OF FAULT The author’s piece, designed to stir public attention with the “lists”, appears in a strange political and media context, where words and documents are tangled up with one another. At the center of attention is the issue of illegally obtained property benefits and the idea that the government will intervene with seizures against those who have unjustly benefited. These lists, according to what is circulating, include the names of judges, foreigners, politicians and influential people. TIRANA - During yesterday’s day the government put into public circulation the issue of the “seizure” of property acquired unlawfully. This was discussed at length by various officials, and it was said that lists had been prepared and that the names would be made public. But the issue is more complicated than it seems. What are the documents? Who compiled them? Are they complete? And why are the names hidden or only partially mentioned? In today’s piece, some of the initial data and the dilemmas surrounding this initiative are presented. The inclusion of judges’ names, foreigners’ and politicians’ gives the development a strong public and political charge. Continues on page 2

“How I didn’t kill Berisha”

INTERVIEW / For the first time, the would-be assassin Gëfa speaks from prison “Berisha was apparently there. I pulled the grenade ring, but the safety wouldn’t come off. I drove near the Tirana-Vllaznia match. They told me it would be caught in Nobel kin, but I was the one who first exploded the grenade”[?] TIRANA - Besnik Ahmeti has finally found the long-awaited opportunity to bring to light the most hidden part of his life. The 31-year-old’s deed, committed months earlier when he threw a grenade in the middle of the capital to kill former president Berisha, will in fact be recounted for the first time today exclusively in “Gazeta Shqiptare”. In an interview with “GS”, Ahmeti tells, with unimaginable freedom and harshness, whether Berisha was truly his target or whether another scheme lay behind it. The big question of what awaited him, who pushed him toward this act, is answered in today’s issue. In the interview he also describes in detail his days in prison, his struggle and his hatred for the political figure he intended to target. Photo: (Photo: Hektor Pustina) Continues on page 4

Dritëroi was a bit hasty with the criticism

Dispute within the Socialist Party over relations between the party and Nano’s government Limoz Dizdari and Petro Koçi Opposed in Dritëroi with the surprise that “crisis poets” is associated with “the sultan and the molar” with the “coalition”? Dritëroi seems to have more than anyone else the standing to speak as a figure close to the Socialists. This is because he is always referred to as “the party’s poet”, but rarely as someone who criticizes it. In this sense, his reaction to the way Nano is governing seems to have surprised not a few Socialists and public opinion. “GS” has managed to uncover the dissatisfaction of part of the party over the comments the writer made about Nano. These are reactions that have been expressed cautiously, but which nevertheless show that within the ruling party a debate has begun about the place criticism should have in relation to the head of government. VIP NAMES IN THE PAGES OF FAULT

Skifteri The distribution is included and has a bad taste, with the reader’s eyes meeting accusations and counter-accusations, documents and comments, which not infrequently appear like weapons in the hands of political sides. Many voices have been raised and now the big question begins: are we dealing with a real action against illegal gains, or with a propaganda battle? If there are lists, they must be complete, clear and verifiable. Otherwise the risk is that the word will lose its value and names will be used merely for political effect. If the government decides to make public a list of the names of unlawful property beneficiaries, then the public expects proof, not just warnings. Otherwise, the “pages of fault” remain a bleak media figure without the weight of truth.
