PD leaders split in two
Berisha refuses cooperation with Nano’s allies
Vigjilu katërin Shehu: There is no other way
TIRANA
The Democratic Alliance describes the split in the camp of the opposition rivals. Whether or not to take part in the commemorations that Prime Minister Nano is organizing on the 5th anniversary of the death of the Cypriot PP has, besides turning a consultation of opposition allies into a lunch, apparently set other political mechanisms in motion. Sali Berisha has refused talks with the united opposition. He has limited himself to speeches addressed to supporters of the PD branches in Tirana and Durrës. The leader of this party has described the 5th anniversary of the Cypriot woman's death as an "absurd ritual, with only electoral aims." The same position is held by Genc Pollo's Democratic Alliance, which stresses that this celebration "will not be only a commemoration of a tragic death," but an example of the political use of remembrance. On the other hand, the republican and legalist allies of the united opposition state that the joint table is the only forum where an opposition action can be decided. The chairman of the PR, Fatmir Mediu, and that of the PBK, Ekrem Spahia, have said that dialogue with other opposition actors should not be interrupted. Meanwhile, the head of the LZHK, Dashamir Shehi, has said that the time has come for the opposition to find a common path.
