Alarm in Has, the spy who informed Belgrade is caught Dozens of foreign operatives were discovered by a child ALEXANDËR MOLSI Kukës- Albanian border forces have captured, near the border post at Qafë-Prush, an armed group of foreign soldiers, wearing Serbian army uniforms but bearing NATO insignia. The incident took place a week ago, near the village of Dobrunë in the district of Has, and according to border police sources, the foreign soldiers were captured in flagrante. The same sources told “Gazeta Shqiptare” that they were being held under full guard, but with no contact with other members of their group. It is understood that this group of foreign soldiers entered Albania from Yugoslav territory, with the mission of scouting Albanian army posts and UÇK bases. These soldiers, who are believed to have been discovered thanks to a child’s testimony, are suspected of working on behalf of Serbian secret services. Last night they were being questioned in Tirana to establish their exact identities and mission. Full article on page 5. It is understood that last week Albanian border forces serving at Qafë e Prushit discovered suspicious movements of a vehicle at the place called “Përroi i Shtanës”, near the Albanian-Yugoslav border. After inspecting the “Benz”, model 240D, with Kosovo license plates, about 4 km from the border line, the 50-year-old Tirana resident Aleksandër Moksi was arrested. Since he was hiding, in the compartment where the spare wheel of the vehicle was kept, a “Sanyo” radio transmitter, the Albanian of Kosovar origin was taken to the border police station. During the first interrogations he stated that he had picked up the radio transmitter in Tirana a week earlier and was taking it to Kosovo on behalf of the UÇK. This statement was viewed with suspicion by police officers, because based on the report of the Albanian border post group, about 4 km from the place where Moksi was arrested, an armed group in Serbian uniforms was also seen. Immediately afterwards, large forces from the border unit arrived at the scene and, near the place where the Kosovar Albanian had been stopped, also arrested 11 other people. During the physical search of these individuals, border police seized 5 other radio transmitters as well as a large quantity of weapons. Among the detainees were Yugoslav and foreign citizens, with passports and Serbian military uniforms bearing NATO insignia. It is suspected that this group of foreign operatives had entered Albania with the mission of discovering Albanian border posts and UÇK bases in the district of Has.
