The beginning of the promised war

Tirana, the oldest capital to be massacred by the events in Berat, because before that they had killed those Albanian police officers who lost their lives and were killed in an ambush. Yesterday around 3:00 p.m. in the Çelepias neighborhood near the Osum River, at an intersection with a traffic light, a car with foreign license plates was moving. The officers at the checkpoint signaled the car to stop. But, to their surprise, the vehicle did not stop; instead, it sped away. Immediately the checkpoint team set off in pursuit of the suspicious persons, but was left horrified when the criminals opened a burst of automatic fire at them. To cope with this situation, other police forces were immediately sent toward the checkpoint, while a few minutes later the incident resembled a scene of terror, with several police officers and civilians dead and injured. The beginning of the promised war, in appearance, leads to such a scene when armed people openly challenge the state, and while then the complete control of the country seemed to be beginning, now the scent of war and a mindset seem to be challenging the very existence of the state. In Berat, yesterday’s event proved that armed violence no longer recognizes any scruples and the exhausted state is not yet able to impose a lawful monopoly on force.
