That is why one of them, I think Naim Frashëri, said that for Albania and the Albanians, “The sun rises where it sets.” That is also why he tried to translate or adapt works by great Western writers, such as the fables of the Frenchman La Fonten, among others. Nearly all our distinguished Rilindas undertook this work of translation and adaptation, that is, rendering into Albanian; many of them preferred to render into Albanian works by French, English, German, and Italian authors.
