Police sources report that an amount of explosives was placed in the car of the head of criminal investigations at Police Station No. 1 in Tirana, Artur Hyka. The incident occurred in the early hours of Thursday, when a powerful explosion in the Kinostudio area shook all the residents. Sources from the blue uniforms report that Hyka’s unlicensed car was parked beneath his home at the moment the explosive device went off. It is understood that the amount of explosive was small and that it was ignited with a fuse. Police sources explain that, according to preliminary investigations, it is suspected that the incident happened because of Hyka’s duties as head of criminal investigations at Police Station No. 1 in Tirana. However, given the small amount of explosive material, police suspect that the perpetrators intended primarily to threaten Hyka in advance. Continues on page 7
