ROME - THE ETERNAL CITY
Rome — the eternal city, an incomparable center of beauty, visited and admired since the most ancient times.
There is hardly any place in Europe with so much history, so many monuments, and so many ancient memories as Rome. It stands on the banks of the Tiber and for centuries has been the center of an entire world. In its streets, its squares, its churches, and its palaces, the weight of history can be felt.
The city of Rome was the heart of the great Roman Empire. There were built temples, amphitheaters, forums, and other great works of antiquity. The Colosseum, the Roman Forum, the Pantheon, and many other monuments testify to the greatness of Roman civilization.
In later centuries Rome became the center of Christianity and of European art. St. Peter's Basilica, the Vatican, its museums, galleries, and countless palaces make Rome a special city. Great artists such as Michelangelo, Raphael, and Bernini left immortal works there.
Rome is also a city of modern life. Its streets are full of movement, shops, cars, and people from all countries. Nevertheless, alongside this bustling life, the city zealously preserves its tradition, memory, and nobility.
Whoever visits Rome feels that they are walking at the same time in the past and in the present. Every stone, every fountain, every square seems to speak of a bygone time, but also of a city that continues to live at its own magnificent rhythm.
