Exactly like the paper on which the red stack of Enver Hoxha’s works was printed. These “daughter” newspapers of ZP have appeared on the scene to have their say precisely today, at a time of a total paper crisis, when other newspapers have been denied the right to publish for lack of even third-grade paper. The election campaign is imminent. ZP, too, has joined the journalistic silence(!) (perhaps it is taking a break from its arduous road), but there are others to speak for it—and on imported paper, no less! Could this paper have been reserved for the works of the deceased at the ML institute, who continues to write even after death, but whose right to publish was taken away by pluralism?! Thus, the fact that good-quality paper is available seriously undermines the socialist officials’ excuse that textbooks and literary works cannot be published because of shortages. According to Europe’s most prominent news agencies, a little boy called the Albanian State has been missing in Albania for some time. He went missing immediately after receiving his infant certificate as a member of the renowned European family. One of the most prominent families of our time. Concerned by this sudden disappearance, the European family informs all its friends and well-wishers of this loss and all its painful aspects. The child, the Albanian State, goes missing at a time when the whole family had its eyes on him. And that is the most astonishing thing. It is suspected that the Albanian State itself had a hand in his disappearance. Nevertheless, the European family submitted to the editorial office of the newspaper “Koha jonë” some of his main characteristics. General characteristics: An Eastern European state. Built and nourished according to the Yugoslav, Russian, Chinese, and somewhat Albanian models. Tired, exhausted, rickety. Undersized in both body and head. As for the latter—that is, the head—we are unable to determine an exact date, since it changes every two or three days. In other words, eccentric, chronically unemployed. Hungry to the point of pain. Attacked on all sides by neighboring chauvinist circles, yet unaware of where he is. Distinguishing signs. An exodus by land, sea, and air. Deaf and forever mute, particularly in the face of the neighbors’ diplomatic attacks. The same can be said of the voices of his subjects, who, according to reports, called out to him so much before he disappeared in an irreconcilable manner. Yet, once again, he disappeared without taking their voices into account. His most distinctive mark, by which he can be distinguished from the other members of the family, is the star on his forehead. We clarify that this star was inherited from his father. As for his father, the family is unable to establish his identity clearly, despite the great advances in the development of genetic science in recent years. Where should the Albanian State be brought? If the child in question is found, the European family begs the finder to take him by the hand and guide him on his way. If possible, all the way to his permanent and predestined home, as ordained by God, in the southwest of the Balkan Peninsula. For the first time in all these years, our television broke the myth of the fixed time for broadcasting fairy tales so beloved by children. Besides the broadcast time, it should be noted that both the protagonists and the viewers changed, too. ALBANIA IN THE CURRENTS OF SPONTANEITY. THE LAW HERE HAS ONLY MUSEUM VALUE. ANTI-LAW (OR, MORE ACCURATELY, THE LAW OF THE STREET) IS ALL-POWERFUL. It must be admitted (though painfully) that Albania is sinking ever deeper into the currents of spontaneity, anarchy, and the law of the street. This is in complete contrast to what we seek, what we fought and are fighting for: TRUE DEMOCRACY. The symptoms of this grave and dangerous disease for a nation or state are plain to see everywhere: in the marketplace, through insecurity and crime. In the marketplace, swindlers and thieves make the rules, with prices in the stratosphere. (They have by now monopolized bread, food, humanitarian aid, and almost all the necessities of life.) In the offices of government and party officials, at both central and local levels, cynicism, hypocrisy, careerism, chicanery, and backstabbing prevail. There, anything can be done with dedication—except what is good for the people, the homeland, and the nation; absolutely not! After experiencing all this, one way or another, everyone may naturally ask: Who is encouraging lawlessness in Albania? The answer to this question is not so simple. Behind it is revealed, as if by magic, the extremist thinking of many of those who (rightly or wrongly) now control the means of mass communication (that is, their words, thoughts, and ideas are manipulated). This group of people (extremists, that is), dressed in the garb of parliamentary, governmental, or party power, after a fierce and extremely bloody battle from the tops of the chairs where circumstance placed them—or, more accurately, from the shore where the wave deposited them—suddenly fall into “consensus” and pass laws and rules, and even issue decrees which (God forgive us) have only museum value here today. This endless battle of insults and shameless slander against one another in parliamentary sessions and government and party meetings suddenly subsides as soon as they reach “consensus” to divide among themselves the share of the profits brought them by their seats. The greatest extremists make declarations with highly polished oratorical skill in the name of the people’s and nation’s highest interests, and promise to put things right very soon; this at a time when the opposite is actually happening. There is just one thing we must all be fully aware of. These people only talk; they have nothing in their hands. Neither the P(P)S nor the PD is in power; they merely lend prestige to power. Today, ANTI-LAW is in power; the rogues, thieves, swindlers, criminals of the street are in power. And I say this with conviction and evidence. Which minister has not signed, and does not sign, an authorization for a foreign company to operate (even at the expense of our economy) when his pocket—poor as it is—is filled with thousands of dollars as a reward for this “kindness”? All the more because nobody oversees him; he is his own Ali and his own Kadi.
