The head of SHIK, Mr. Gazidede, has been summoned to prison

together with Mr. Luan Pobrati. The usual SHIK announcement was broadcast on the newly born private station “Shijak TV” by one of Albania’s most beautiful-voiced announcers, with Mr. Gazidede in the background. Gurmazi Spartak was not brave enough to appear before the people himself. SHIK continues to blare through its rare but highly bombastic announcements about the latest discovery of “terrorist groups” and “foreign agencies,” for which the government still provides no evidence, even to avoid violating the “official secret.” All of this is done to justify the activity of this super-service, commissioned and set up by Mr. Berisha himself. L. Pobrati. I am not a member of any party and I do not even watch Genc Pollo’s television. I intervened only as an ordinary citizen in defense of freedom of speech. After I had finished my phone call with my friend Mr. Zenel Balla, editor-in-chief of “Republika,” my connection with him was suddenly cut off. When we were connected again, I realized that the conversation was being recorded and I was calmly and cynically told not to worry any more about my “enemy,” the other editor-in-chief Zenel Balla. “No one has been taken hostage,” but “we will help him give up his position.” These are the words of SHIK, of Gazidede, of Berisha, passages from a typical police and unconstitutional mentality. — From the short interview with Mr. Luan Pobrati. How did I learn so quickly that you were in prison from the reactions in the press regarding the case. What was your fault? — Zenel Balla? He had edited a text written by Hysen Dauti and published in “Republika,” according to which the general secretary of the PD, Gazmend Meksi, had allegedly asked Mr. Xhelal Koprencka to abandon the hunger strike. For this text they were looking for Gazidede[?], Kreshnik Spahiu[?], Major Xhavit Shqarrin[?]. It is clear that SHIK acted against the law, arresting, as if by uncertain order, a publisher, the editor-in-chief and a journalist. When asked whether Gylqyri Spahiu had written the public notice with his own hand, for which he was supposedly taken to prison. When asked whether he had written it by hand himself, he answers that “what haven’t we done in these years.” Beyond that. How do you see the punishable act? Worthy only of resentment? In the media and in all the propaganda outlets of the new government, including this so-called “Shijak TV,” the same Berisha portraits are being shown day after day without interruption, while at the same time independent journalists and the leaders of the pluralist press are being attacked and threatened. This shows political panic, not state strength. This is political policing of the worst kind.
