As is known, the families of the victims of April 2 in Shkodër, bearing in mind the long delay in identifying the killers, have sent our parliament a protest in which, among other things, they say: “Two years are coming up since the April 2 massacre in Shkodër, and the trial of the martyrs is being dragged out from month to month. We, the families of the martyrs, increasingly disillusioned by this delay, protest and ask you to ensure that the trial begins by November 28, 1992, with all the due formalities; otherwise, all the families of the martyrs of democracy will go on hunger strike, using this as the last democratic means…” “…Turn your eyes toward Shkodër for a moment and remember those whom, until yesterday, you could not get through a parliamentary session without mentioning; though dead, they are demanding their rights.” So November 20 is approaching. Today’s rulers, who during the election campaign used the events in Shkodër as their strongest weapon against yesterday’s rulers, must put an end to this mystery. It can wait no longer. On November 20, will we have a trial to see justice done, or will the relatives and mothers of the martyrs go on hunger strike, their tears for their sons not yet dry?

Two questions for Gramoz Pashko — INTERVIEW OUTSIDE THE PRESS CONFERENCE — — What is your position in relation to the Democratic Alliance? — I am one of the founders of the new party, so my position is clear. As for the role, the Assembly will assign it to me. Of course, I intend to work on the economic program. You may wonder: you drew up the economic program of the PD and of the Government of Stability, and now you are drawing up that of the Democratic Alliance. In fact, there is no difference in the program’s essence. The difference lies in the vision. My vision for the economic program differs precisely with regard to the future, whereas the PD has no vision for that future. — Let us make a supposition. If you were to take power, would this vision of yours for the future continue, or would you be forced to take austerity measures to deal with the grave situation the country is going through? — If a hypothetical question is asked, then I would give an answer that would itself be hypothetical. We cannot currently speak of taking power. It is too early to think about that. We support the Government and consider all the institutions established after the March elections legitimate. We will criticize the Government’s work for the mistakes it makes, but we will not do so on a personal level, as was once done to us. What is interesting is that in the Albanian press you do not see articles that logically argue disagreements with someone’s activities or work; instead, they turn to personal attacks. They look at who you have coffee with, who you associate with, and even whether you get along with your wife. This is not honest at all. Interviewed by: VIRGJIL MUÇI, PLATOR NESTURI
