In Mr. Pjetër Arbnori’s response to Azem Hajdari & Co, published a week ago in RD, the pathetic, threatening, insulting, but also touching tones stood out. There were many interesting things in Mr. Pjetër’s response, but we will focus on just one fact. Pjetër publicly swears that he did not receive 39 gold napoleons. But the facts say otherwise. In April 1992, the Speaker of the Albanian Parliament sued the Ministry of Finance and the Executive Committee of Tirana, and Judge Vasil Plaku (now under arrest) ensured that Mr. Arbnori won the case. We cannot say what benefit Mr. Plaku received, as he subsequently continued to serve as Deputy Prosecutor General with his immunity removed (?). In RD, Pjetër said more or less: «If I took that money, may my daughter eat it and die.» But what fault is it of his daughter, Mr. Pjetër? May she—poor girl—grow up healthy as an apple and never need medicine, but you did take those napoleons, Mr. Pjetër! In fact, in addition to them, you also received 88,932 lekë. At least, that is what the outcome of the trial shows, in which Pjetër Arbnori himself was the plaintiff. Nor is RD, which he criticized in Pjetër’s article, making things up. It is an accurate newspaper that confirms its news with the bureau. It is not right for the Speaker of Parliament to lie publicly. The court ruling is written in black and white. What Pjetër did with the napoleons is not very important; what matters is that, after wearing himself out in court, he managed to get them.
On the other hand, when he was in prison, his nickname was not Koromania. Should we believe things without opening the files? Pjetër refers to a friend of F. N., but does not give his name. Why does he not give his name, and who is F. N.? According to our sources, F. N. is Fatos Nano, which makes the matter even more complicated. Pjetër should explain himself more clearly before the party.
In closing this article, we inform Mr. Arbnori that in his response he often unfairly blunders against the newspaper «Koha Jonë», saying that it slanders him. To date, we have written nothing against Pjetër; we have published what others have written about him. This is normal, because as a newspaper we welcome and publish articles regardless of ideology, region, or party. Mr. Arbnori has not submitted any article that we have not published.
Therefore, Mr. Pjetër should not insult us, because otherwise the Prosecutor’s Office will bring charges against him.
FOR THESE REASONS
The Court, pursuant to Article 131 of the Civil Procedure Code,
RULED:
The Ministry of Finance, Tirana, is ordered to return to the plaintiff, Pjetër Arbnori, 39 gold coins minted in the year «20».
The Executive Committee of the Tirana District People’s Council (Finance Section) is ordered to return to the plaintiff, Pjetër Arbnori, the sum of 88,932 lekë
(to be paid):
The defendants shall bear the court costs.
An appeal or protest against this ruling may be lodged with the Tirana Regional Court within 10 days, beginning 3 days after its announcement.
