Just like on 6 November, yesterday around 1:30 p.m., two armed men, even wearing masks, took 46 million Swiss francs from the only SWISSAIR branch in Tirana. According to the Tirana central police and the branch of the above-mentioned company, the robbery was organized by masked and armed assailants. Because of the sunlight, it was impossible for the cashier to notice them. The first of the robbers grabbed the currency invoices still on the office desk and put them in a bag. In the safe there was only a small amount of various Albanian and American currency. Meanwhile, the other robber pointed a toy pistol at the employee’s face and forced him to remain at the scene under threat. In the middle of Tirana there was such a bold and at the same time astonishing act, given that all major monetary transactions of this branch are carried out at the state bank. Employees of the branch believe that yesterday’s robbery was also carried out with the help of the police. This idea stems from the criminal police source of precinct No. 3, which stated that the two men had been wearing glasses and carrying umbrellas to hide themselves, and after the robbery they left the scene. The seizure of this considerable sum of money has led the SWISSAIR branch offices to change location and no longer operate in their office on Barrikadave Street. Likewise, 2,000 German marks, 6,000 US dollars and 3,000 Swiss francs were stolen from the only SWISSAIR branch in the city of Durrës under this name on 13–14 January. This time as well, the robbery, according to the police, was carried out by masked and armed persons. This time too, the possibility is not excluded that the employees were compromised by someone aware of the activities of this branch.
