Lezhë A wedding turns into a funeral — The groom and two wedding guests are killed in a blood-feud Old blood feuds strike again. The tragedy took place in Torovica, a settlement 20 km north of the city of Lezhë, where four men were affected, three of them now buried. As the wedding of the son was at its height last Saturday, a burst of automatic gunfire first killed the wedding guard, Kujtim Ferhati. Then the hail of bullets did not spare the groom, Ilir Sulejmani, 24, who was due to set off to fetch his bride just 8–9 hours later. Only a few moments after the groom was killed, the burst from the avenging gunman’s automatic weapon killed another member of the groom’s family: Fatmir Sulejmani, 47, and seriously wounded Sandër Përdofi, who was admitted to hospital with severe injuries to his face and body. The victims’ family, originally from Perlat in Mirditë, left for Malësia e Madhe on the day of the wedding, according to local residents, taking two of the bodies with them, while one was buried in Torovicë. The case is under investigation at the Public Order Department in Lezhë, so no information is being released apart from the fact that the father of the murdered groom has taken to the mountains with a weapon, which means that blood may be shed again. The killer may have fired from the corridor on the fourth floor of the apartment building facing the private house where the festivities were taking place, one local resident says. It was an old blood feud, given that there is also fear of the Allemë that has now occurred. The victim from Shtjefën, Kujtim Ferhati, who served as a guard, speaks of the fear that exists in the family with its old bajqe.
