Law against genocide approved

The opposition boycotts the vote on the law After 11 hours of debate in Parliament Dokle: “We do not recognize the ragged, pre-decreed papers of Mr. Berisha” Gjinushi: “We cannot be sullied and we do not recognize such an unconstitutional law” As of today, dozens of politicians and former politicians no longer have the right to be elected. Among them Fatos Nano, Dritëro Agolli, Skënder Gjinushi, Shkëlqim Cani, etc. etc. Precisely at the moment when today replaced yesterday, at 00:01, the draft law for the fight against geno- cide was turned into law. It was a tense working day, which began with a speech by the chairman of the presidium of the People’s Assembly, Pjetër Arbnori, who shortly after gave an over- view of the fight against communism by his party and the crimes of the dictatorship, emphasized that those who will be convicted for genocide will be answerable only for violating the laws of that time, that is, of communism. Afterwards began the long marathon of ten-minute debates by the deputies. The positions of the parties, previously an- nounced through the mass media after the proposal of the draft law, did not change even in the deputies’ speeches. Clashes between Greeks and Americans

Clashes between Greeks and Americans Hundreds of Greek protesters demand the withdrawal of American soldiers from Corfu The Greek government yesterday condemned the inciden- t that occurred the day before between several hundred Greeks who were demonstrating against the war in Bosnia and American sailors who were leaving the island of Corfu. It did not take responsibility for this problem, stating that pro- tests in Greece are legal, just as American ships have entered the island of Corfu lawfully. Greece is the only among Western states that has maintained close ties with Serbia since the start of the war in former Yugoslavia in 1991. The support it has given to the Serbs has put Greece in major divergence with the USA and other Western states which blame the Serbs for provoking the war in the Balkans. American sailors and Greek protesters were beaten with kicks, punches and other improvised means with which they also struck the American aircraft carriers. Several hundred protesters were shouting: “No American warships in our port”, “Americans out of Corfu”, “Americans are murderers”, etc. Seeing the situation, the American sailors formed a cordon to prevent the protesters from entering the port command post and the aircraft carriers “America” and “Normandia”. At the beginning of this month the Greek media harshly criticized the strike on Serbian positions with Tomahawk missiles launched from the aircraft carrier “Normandia”. Greece, a member of the EU and NATO, has repeatedly criticized any outside interference in the Balkan peninsula and has refused participation in combat operations against Serbia. /Reuters
