The USA refutes Berisha

The State Department reveals the truths of Berisha’s visit Brozi and Nano were discussed in America The protest proves that Brozi was dismissed against Washington’s will The latest protest by the American State Department in favor of Brozi proved that Berisha is a good actor and a bad politician, who knows how to smile even after bad messages, but does not know how to interpret messages. By openly taking Brozi’s side, the Americans completely refuted Berisha, who upon returning from Washington publicly declared that the Brozi case had not even been mentioned in the United States. Berisha’s smiling face from Washington may well have warmed, and rightly so, his followers in Tirana, who interpreted Brozi’s dismissal and the genocide law as guarantees obtained in the White House or, worse still, as decisions made in Washington. page 3

PS mathematics: 1 in every 2 votes

PS mathematics: 1 in every 2 votes Rally of 3,000 socialists in Durrës Pëllumbi: Berisha must guarantee the peaceful transfer of power from PD to PS “We want to win 1 in every 2 votes and, as the opposition, have two-thirds of the future parliament,” declared PS vice-chairman Servet Pëllumbi yesterday regarding the party’s electoral goal, before 3,000 socialists from Durrës gathered to inaugurate the start of the PS electoral campaign on a national scale. In the packed sports hall, national flags and photographs of the imprisoned socialist leader Fatos Nano dominated the rows and steps. “We want Fatos Nano” was the most repeated slogan during the hour-and-a-half rally. Everything went calmly, although the police and 4 vans and two large vehicles filled with police had taken measures to intervene if necessary. page 2

Nano file reaches Cassation

After two and a half months, the odyssey of delay comes to an end It was sent from the Appeal Court to Tepelenë on the day of Brozi’s hearing in the Constitutional Court TIRANA- The odyssey of delay surrounding the case file of socialist leader Fatos Nano has ended after the hearing in the Appeal Court in July of this year. Despite the strong objections of his lawyer and the PS parliamentary group, the file was unjustly kept locked in the safe of the President of the Court of Appeal, Mr. Përl Martini. Tried in connection with the entry into force of the New Penal Code first in the district court of Tepelenë, where PS number 1 served his sentence, the case was transferred to the Appeal Court. On 21 July, the prosecutor in this case requested Nano’s immediate release, while the court acknowledged that he was entitled to benefits but granted Nano only one year in prison, failing to take into account the proportional effect of the benefit. Only one week later it was Parliament that made a change to the law, which was said to have been intended to keep the socialist leader in prison. But within the one-month deadline for making the request in the court of first instance, it was lawyer Perparim Sanxhaku who found the necessary opening so that the case could be referred to the Cassation Court for trial. Immediately after this, the state’s war against Chairman Brozi also began. Although the law strictly required it, the president of the court of second instance, Përl Martini, hindered the sending of the file in time, to the point of forcing the PS parliamentary group to sue him in the Tirana court. According to sources within the Appeal Court, it is understood that the file was sent to Tepelenë only on the day the hearing date was set at the Constitutional Court against Zef Brozi following the government’s complaint against him. A few days later several of his decisions suspending rulings in the enforcement offices were declared unconstitutional. On the same day, his dismissal was voted on in Parliament by the PD parliamentary group. Yesterday the “Nano” file arrived at the Cassation Court, where the date for its trial is expected to be set, A. P
